Luke 10:18: And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
Lucifer was the wisest and most beautiful of the angels, who tried to take Michael’s kingdom in Heaven. Ezekiel 28:11-15 describes the appearance of Lucifer and the sin that lay in his heart. But when Lucifer was cast out of Heaven (Revelation 12:7-9), his fall to the earth was as fast as a flash of lightning.
On the earth, Satan entered into the one who mirrored his former position in Heaven, and attempted to overthrow Adam’s kingdom, even as he tried to overthrow Michael’s kingdom. The Serpent was the head of the animal kingdom and was the most beautiful and wisest of all the animals, for in the animal creation, it is the male that is more beautiful than the female.
After Eve had been seduced, God came down in an investigation judgment and cursed the Serpent, saying to him, “Upon thy belly shalt thou go!” (Genesis 3:14). As fast as a flash of lightning (“SHEW!!”)… he who was the head of the animal kingdom was instantly reduced down to crawl upon the dust of the earth.
When Jesus was on the earth, He was the second Adam, He was Michael incarnate in human flesh. Jesus saw Lucifer fall from Heaven as fast as a lightning flash. In a split moment, the anointed cherub, the most beautiful and wisest of the angels, and the one who stood next to God, was suddenly reduced down to being the lowest of the angels.
As the second Adam (Jesus) saw the fall of Lucifer, even so the first Adam in the Garden of Eden would watch with his own eyes the fall of the Serpent. After God had pronounced the curse upon the Serpent, Adam watched him go from being the most beautiful and wisest of the animals to being the lowest specie in the animal kingdom. He who was second only to Adam and tried to overthrow Adam’s kingdom, in a split moment was reduced down to the dust upon which he would crawl forever.
