Job 38: 31: Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion?
The first Bible was written in the constellations of the stars, and man was able to look up and understand about God and His great plan by the revelation they received when looking at the stars. Job more than any other character in the Bible gives the most information about the stars and Space. Job knew about the twelve zodiacal signs and called them Mazzaroth in Job 38: 32. He spoke of Arcturus (Job 9: 9), the fourth brightest star in the night sky, and the brightest star in the northern constellation of Boötes. It is situated in an almost direct line with the tail of Ursa Major (the Great Bear), whilst the sons of Arcturus spoken of in Job 38: 32 are the three stars in the tail of Ursa Major. Job knew that the earth is suspended in Space (Job 26: 7: He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.) and that it has two hemispheres. He called the southern hemisphere the chambers of the south (Job 9: 9), and of the northern hemisphere he said that it is stretched out over the empty place.
The two major constellations Job spoke of are that of Pleiades and Orion. Pleiades is a bright open cluster containing more than a thousand stars, but it is visually dominated by its seven brightest stars (Amos 5: 8). Orion however is named after a hunter in Greek mythology, and is one of the most obvious and recognizable constellations in the sky and can be seen throughout the world; its belt or “bands” is formed by its three brightest stars.
As the celestial bodies of Pleiades and Orion have an influence on the terrestrial world (1 Corinthians 15: 40), so what they represent in the supernatural world has an effect on us in the natural world. In Heaven are celestial bodies of theophanies, and they exert an influence or power upon the terrestrial body of the flesh. The flesh body has a law of sin inside it that we fight against, but when the new birth comes, the sweet influence of the Holy Spirit pulls you into alignment with your celestial body and brings the flesh subject to the Word. This transforming power of the Holy Spirit starts to change you on the inside so that your terrestrial body on the earth begins to reflect the celestial existence of your heavenly representation.
The seven stars of Pleiades are in Christ’s right hand in Revelation 1: 16: And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength. These seven stars represent the seven church age messengers who had a special designated position in the Church of the living God. Each of these men had a voice that uttered something. They were connected with redemption, and Christ was the influence upon them. The message of each angel exerted an influence on the elect of that age, and in this final age with a message of seven thunders by the tearing off of the seven seals upon the Book, the influence of this last day message is showing us how to prepare for rapturing faith. As the open cluster of Pleiades contains more than a thousand stars, so there are many saints connected with the seven stars in Christ’s right hand, an elect group of overcomers from every age connected with their messenger and his message.
Orion and its bands speak of union and strength. Romans 8: 35 – 39 describes so beautifully the strong bands of Christ’s love that unite us together: Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. We are eternally bound to Christ by loves strong cord, for He has put the wedding band of His love on us and we are forever tied to Him our Absolute.
Orion is the hunter with a sword and is the most glorious of all the constellations in the heavens, so Jesus is seen in Revelation 1: 16, not with just seven stars in His right hand, but with His countenance shining as the sun in its strength, and out of His mouth going a sharp twoedged Sword. The seven stars, the Sword, and the brightness show the strong connection of Pleiades with Orion in the Day of the LORD when Christ is being revealed as the supreme Judge between His Priesthood and His Kingship.
