Psalm 19: 9: The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
The American civil war from 1861 to 1865 was a national judgment upon America for the sin of slavery it had inflicted upon so many Africans. Every drop of blood spilled by the lash of the whip came back upon the nation by the sword, musket, and cannon in the war that broke out between the Confederate states of the South and the Union states of the North. This great punishment upon the nation was not focused on specific individuals, but hurt the nation as a whole. The righteous and unrighteous alike were stricken and died in the war, because the sin of slavery was a national sin, and so the judgment that came upon it was also a national one, showing no partiality to any.
