Daniel 7:7: After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.

The fourth creature that Daniel saw rise up out of the sea was unlike the three creatures before it. The three creatures before it were animals (a lion, a bear, and a leopard), but the fourth creature was not. It is described as having teeth of iron and nails of brass (Daniel 7:19). Iron and brass are not biological (they are not natural and cannot grow), but are metals that man fashions together. So then because the fourth creature was an unnatural one, the last days world power which it represented would also be unnatural in its appearance.

The fourth beast is said to be diverse from the three other beasts. The word “diverse” in Hebrew means altered, changed, and transformed. The same Hebrew word is used a little later where we read of the Antichrist (the little horn) seeking to “change” times and laws (Daniel 7:25). This tells us that the last days world power will look unnatural and altered. It will be anti-natural in its opposing all that God created and instituted in the beginning.

When we look at the civilization we live in, we can readily see that it is becoming more and more characterized by the Hebrew word for “diverse.” The global culture of our times is waging war against men, manhood, and fatherhood. It is warring against women, womanhood, and motherhood. It is warring against gender, against sexuality, against marriage, family, society, and humanity. It is seeking to transform or alter everything that is a reflection of God. We are seeing cancel culture in action. We are witnessing the fourth beast waging war and seeking to crush all that opposes it.
