John 3: 1: In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,
The forerunner of the first coming of Christ was called John the Baptist, a title tacked onto John’s name because of the many he baptized to repentance in the waters of Jordan (John 1: 28). What is so fascinating about this title attributed to John is how it connects to the forerunner of the second coming of Christ.
The last days messenger, William Branham, was actually a young Baptist preacher after his conversion and call to the ministry. A pastor by the name of Dr. Roy E. Davis ordained Brother Branham into the Missionary Baptist Church where he became an assistant pastor to Dr. Davis. Furthermore, it was in June of 1933, whilst the young William the Baptist was standing in the Ohio River at a baptismal service following a revival meeting, that the Pillar of Fire came down, and a Voice spoke, saying, “As John the Baptist was sent forth to forerun the first coming of Christ, your message shall cover the earth and forerun the second coming of Christ.”
