Matthew 26: 47 – 50: And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people. Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast. And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him. And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.
Judas was the one who at first glance would appear to be Jesus’ most trusted disciple as he was the one who carried the money bag (John 12: 6). But it was Judas who betrayed Jesus to the chief priests for the price of thirty pieces of silver and who led the band of armed men to the address of Jesus’ location for His arrest. So in these last days as a strong persecution comes upon the Bride of Christ around the world, there will be those who have mixed in the circles of the message, and who would be least suspected of such treachery, that will turn against the believers and inform the authorities of the names, addresses, and churches of those connected with the message of the hour, leading to fines, arrests, imprisonment, and (in some cases) the deaths of those who refuse to bow down to a world system that comes against the Word.
