Genesis 12:3: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
In the late nineteenth century, the Russian czars and the czarist government embarked on an all-out war against the Jewish people living in Russian lands. They instigated mass uprisings of violence against them called “pogroms,” and sought to drive the Jews out of the land, or else murder them. But the Abrahamic covenant decrees that whatever you do to the Jewish people shall in return be done to you. And as the czar and czarist government had risen up against the Jewish people, so mass uprisings began in Russia against the czar and the czarist government, resulting in their overthrow. Russia was now communist and became known as the Soviet Union, under which the Jews of Russia continued to endure much oppression and were treated as a captive people. The antisemitism of Soviet rule and the captive-like treatment of the Jewish people resulted in the Soviet Union itself being turned into a captive civilization.
Then in World War Two, the Soviet Union fought against the armies of Hitler, who was an enemy and destroyer of the Jewish people. The Soviet Union’s involvement in the war was critical to the defeat of Hitler’s Nazi Germany and in liberating the Jewish people from the concentration camps. In its saving of the Jews by military strength, the Soviet Union was blessed militarily, and later became a superpower during the Cold War years. Unfortunately, within its borders, the Jewish people were still oppressed; and so, although the Soviet Union was militarily strong, yet it was cursed and oppressed domestically as its economy struggled to develop, and the eyes of the KGB kept everybody under close watch. However, in the late 1980’s, the Soviet Union ended its oppression of the Jewish people and granted them the freedom to leave. In allowing the Jewish people to freely leave the country, the Russian nation and Eastern Europe were likewise released from the oppression of communism when the system officially collapsed.
