The iron and clay

In Daniel 2, Nebuchadnezzar, the King of Babylon, dreamt of an image that had a head of gold, chest and arms of silver, belly and thighs of brass, legs of iron, and feet of iron and clay. Each of the metals were became less valuable, but progressively stronger.

The gold, silver, brass, and iron represent the four world empires of ancient history: Babylon, Persia, Greece, and Rome. The two arms of the image represent Media and Persia (hence the name “Medo-Persia”), whilst the two legs represent the Roman Empire that later divided into the Eastern Roman Empire and the Western Roman Empire.

The feet of the image were iron and clay, which will not mix; so in the twentieth century, the world became divided between the West (the iron) and the East (the clay). The West was headed by the United States, whilst the East was headed by the Soviet Union (Russia). As the Roman iron extended from the legs into the feet, so the United States is the political image to the Beast through which the Roman power extends its influence.

Not only were the feet of the image iron and clay, but so also were its toes (Daniel 2:42). In 1960, when the threat of a nuclear holocaust was very real during the Cold War, the Ten Nation Committee on Disarmament was established. It was a negotiating body that comprised five western nations (America, Canada, France, Great Britain, and Italy) and five eastern nations (the Soviet Union, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Poland, and Romania).

These were the ten toes in the twentieth century. The big toe (America) of one foot was headed by Eisenhower, whose name means “iron hewer” in the German language. The big toe (the Soviet Union) of the other foot was headed by Khrushchev, whose name means “clay” in the Russian language. Interestingly, the names Eisenhower and Khrushchev both consist of ten letters in the English language.

In February 1964, whilst hunting javelina (a pig that is native to America), the Holy Spirit told the prophet to pick up a rock and throw it into the air. As he did so, he declared to those hunting with him that something was about to happen.

The very next day, the Pillar of Fire descended three times as a whirlwind. It blasted each time It descended, and the Voice of God spoke, declaring judgment upon the west coast of America. This was followed by a massive earthquake on March 27, which shook the world and almost sank the west coast of Alaska.

It would be in the time when history had reached the toes of the image that the smiting stone of judgment (Christ the Headstone) would come (Daniel 2:44). God told the prophet to pick up a rock and throw it into the air as a judgment sign upon the earth. The Ten Nation Committee on Disarmament was established in 1960, and the prophet threw the rock into the air in 1964; so the judgment sign was demonstrated when history had reached the feet!
