Matthew 27: 50 – 53: Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
Matthew 28: 1 – 2: In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
The resurrection of the Old Testament saints was preceded by two earthquakes; the first being when Jesus died on the cross, and the second being at the time of Jesus’ resurrection. It was after the two earthquakes that the Old Testament saints came from Paradise to pick up their flesh bodies and entered a glorified state, after which they ascended to Heaven with Jesus (Psalm 24: 7 – 10) in the Cloud described in Acts 1: 9. These two earthquakes and the resurrection that followed them are a shadow of what will take place again in the last days.
Before the New Testament saints are resurrected, there are two earthquakes that precede their rising from the dead. The first earthquake was the Good Friday Earthquake (also known as the Great Alaska Earthquake) on March 27, 1964. The prophet spoke of this earthquake following his throwing a rock into the air and the Voice from Heaven pronouncing judgment on the west coast. As the earthquake at Calvary happened on a Friday, so the Alaska earthquake happened on a Good Friday, and symbolized judgment starting in the earth following this generation being indicted for the second crucifixion of Jesus Christ on July 7, 1963.
The second quake that precedes the resurrection of the sleeping New Testament saints is the great California earthquake which will sink Los Angeles into the Pacific Ocean. It will be shortly after this momentous event that the New Testament saints will come from the Region of the Blessed to pick up their flesh bodies and enter a glorified state, in exactly the same way as it happened for the Old Testament saints some 2000 years before.
